On this Independence Day, as Ivar’s representatives attempt to turn our urban skies into an air raid zone, I can’t think of anything profound to say. Over the years I’ve had complex feelings about this country. But when I think about it, Emma is the one who comes closest to my way of thinking about the States. Drop science Emma!
Actually, now that I think about it, Woody comes pretty close too.
yes indeed the words of Emma and Woody are both apropos here but actually I quite like hearing the sonic boom resonate through the walls of my home- it makes me feel secure and I like to know that I can personally benefit from the techno-dollars that the gov sucks from me annually- the thrill of seeing the Blue Angels is worth the noise in my opinion…
god bless Ivar’s… oh actually I am thinking of SeaFair- my mistake- but still I love Ivar’s especially the Dancing Clams- and here in Istanbul they had bigger and better fireworks than they do even on their own Independence day
Yeah, It’s easier for me feel loyal to abstract ideas like diversity, justice and fair play than it is be patriotic about a piece of cloth or geographic location.
